# Discount value and eligibility

> Choose which items are discounted and by how much.

This section of the form defines the discount itself: which line items it can touch, and the value it applies.

## Discount eligible products

Narrow which line items the discount can touch. You can also exclude products in the same way.

| Rule | Selects line items by |
| - | - |
| Product ID | Specific products |
| Product collections | Collection membership |
| Product type | Product type, for example `skincare` |
| Product vendor | Vendor name |
| Variant SKU, ID or title | Specific variants |
| Cheapest / most expensive product | The cheapest or most expensive item(s) in the cart |
| Has selling plan / has not selling plan | Subscription or non-subscription products |
| Compare at price | A compare-at price condition |
| Product tag | Product tags (advance input only) |

Use **single** mode when one rule is enough. **Multiple** mode combines up to three conditions in one rule.

## Discount to apply

| Value | Effect |
| - | - |
| Percentage discount | A percentage off each eligible item |
| Fixed total discount | A fixed amount off the eligible items in total |
| Fixed discount per item | A fixed amount off each eligible item |
| Fixed discount per quantity | A fixed amount off per unit |
| Fixed price | Sets eligible items to a fixed price |
| Dynamic price | Per-variant, customer-segment and time-window pricing (advance input only) |

## Discount target

Choose **Variant target** (the usual choice) or **Cart line target**.
